However, the scenario for healthcare has changed with the introduction of several government initiatives. For instance, government-sponsored health protection schemes such as the Pradhan Mantri Jan Health Scheme (PMJAY), also known as the Ayushman Bharat Yojana, provide financial coverage to the economically weaker sections during medical emergencies.

You can easily check at home whether you will get the benefit of Ayushman Bharat or not. For that you have to call 14555 toll free number or you can also check online. For which you have to go to the Am I ELIGIBLE option on https://www.bbnhpm.gov.in/ website. Go to Am I ELIGIBLE, a new window will open. Mobile number has to be entered here. Then click on Generate OTP. OTP will come in mobile. KYC details have to be filled while entering it. In this way it will be known whether you will get the benefit of this scheme or not.
What are the benefits of PMJAY scheme?
Under this scheme, the beneficiary family is to get a benefit cover of Rs.5 lakh per year.
The scheme provides coverage for around 1393 procedures, including room charges, doctor's fees, diagnostic services, treatment expenses, ICU and operation theater expenses etc.
Beneficiaries can claim cashless medical facilities in both public and private hospitals in India.
Under this plan, you will get pre-hospitalization cover for 3 days and post-hospitalization cover for 15 days. During that time, the patient will also get full coverage for medicines and diagnostics.

PAN and Aadhaar card as proof of age and identity
Income Certificate (Maximum annual income up to Rs. 5 lakh)
Current status of family (joint/divorce) and supporting documents related thereto
Online Registration for Ayushman Bharat Yojana
Step 1: Visit PMJAY's online portal and click on 'Am I eligible' option.
Step 2: It will ask for your contact details to generate a one-time password.
Step 3: After entering all these details, proceed with selecting your state. Search by Ration Number/Mobile Number/Name/HHD Number etc. to find your name in PMJAY's Beneficiary List and check whether the medical benefits can be availed.
