The best thing is that the 540 km long portion of this expressway will open this year itself. That means people in the states where the work has been completed can take advantage of it. It will start this month on the 229 km long Delhi-Jaipur/Dausa route. The 100 km long Vadodara-Ankleshwar highway will be opened in March and the 211 km long Jhalawar-MP/Gujarat highway in June.

Once the expressway is built, the Delhi-Mumbai journey will be completed in 12 hours, which currently takes 25 hours. To test the functioning of Delhi-Mumbai Expressway, Bhaskar's team traveled about 1750 km in 5 days.

There were many occasions when the team had to retreat 30 to 40 kilometers due to deadlock on the under-construction expressway. After wandering on rough roads at many places, the main road was found. The special thing was also seen that after seeing the completion of this project, now the schemes of the states are also ready to take advantage of it. It has a 4 to 6 lane road to connect to the expressway and land is also being acquired for an industrial corridor. Madhya Pradesh and Rajasthan have made progress in this.

Both these states have received approval for several projects from Union Transport Minister Nitin Gadkari to connect their cities with this expressway. For example, work on the 86 km six-lane road from Paniyala in Haryana to Alwar in Rajasthan will begin in March.

With this, vehicles from Punjab and Haryana will get direct connectivity to Delhi-Mumbai. This is a project worth Rs 1388 crore. Rajasthan government had sent the proposal of six lane road project from Alwar to Bharatpur to NHAI, which has been approved. With this, people coming from Delhi will be able to go directly to Bharatpur-Agra.

Similarly, to take advantage of this expressway, a multi logistics park is being built on 1800 hectares in Ratlam, Madhya Pradesh. Land acquisition work is going on for this project worth Rs 3500 crore. A plan for 10 four-lane roads is being prepared in Mandsaur-Ratlam-Jhabua-Ujjain-Dhar which will be connected to the expressway.

Its total length will be 650 km. Work on this Delhi Mumbai Expressway has been expedited. The deadline for its completion is June 2024, but after Gadkari's announcement, full preparations are being made to complete it in December 2023 itself. With the opening of the expressway, the travel time from Delhi to Mumbai will be halved. Till now it used to take 25 hours, now it will take 12 hours.

To complete the expressway quickly, it has been divided into 54 parts and assigned to 23 firms. The maximum speed on the expressway will be 120 km/hr. The government estimates that after the opening of the highway, toll revenue will be Rs 12 to 18 crore annually.

This expressway will promote the development of infrastructure, agriculture and commercial production. Logistics, business parks and industrial clusters near the expressway will give new strength to the economy of the states. The textile, chemical and agricultural industries spread in this area will get a new direction. This will reduce logistics costs. The ecosystem will be ready for investment in these cities.

This is how the expressway is being prepared

12 lakh tonnes of steel will be used. With this, 50 Howrah bridges can be built.
80 lakh tonnes of cement, enough to build 350 Statues of Unity.
To stop carbon emissions, 2 crore trees will be needed, this much fuel will be saved every year.

Fighter jets can also land at 55 places

The Delhi-Mumbai Expressway passes through six states: Delhi, Haryana, Madhya Pradesh, Rajasthan, Gujarat and Maharashtra.
Of the 1355 km long expressway, 738 km has already been completed.
Road work is going on. 65 percent work has been completed.
Delhi to Jewar Airport (Noida) is being connected, taking the length to 1386 km.

3.2 crore liters of fuel will be saved annually. This will save about Rs 3 thousand crores.
There will be 55 such places where fighter planes can also land. That means this expressway will strategically increase our strength.
