Google has reportedly removed a number of fake antivirus apps from the Play Store. According to a report, at least six anti-virus apps were being used in the Google Play Store to spread banking malware.

The report goes on to say that these apps appeared to be the real antivirus solution, when in fact they downloaded and installed Android Stellar under the name Shockbot.

Sharkbot is a banking malware that steals credentials and banking information, such as your personal information. Malware implements a geopensing feature and stealth technique, which makes it the most distinctive. The malware entices the victim to enter their credentials in that window, which looks exactly like a credential input form.

Once you enter your information in a fake input window, your details are sent to fraudsters through a malicious server. According to the report, malware targets every potential prey and has a geofencing feature, a cyber security report has revealed that sharkbots also use stealth techniques.
